This German mystery is translated very well and made me laugh all the time. It wasn't too difficult to find out who the killer is, but that's better than a completely implausible solution. I will definitely read more Lisa Becker.
horrible. I would bet hundreds that it was written by a man - way too much interest in boobs and other similar parts of the anatomy. Sound like it was written by a 14 year old with no parental guidance. DO NOT waste your money.
I cannot understand how this book has so many 5-star reviews. It's absolutely unreadably awful. If you're at all tempted to buy this, try the 'look inside' preview first and see for yourself.
The characters are uninteresting, the dialog seems to have been written by a twelve-year-old, and the plot is just stupid.
The worst thing, though, is the translation from German to English, which may very well have been done by someone who speaks neither language. Grammatical errors abound, and the resulting prose is consistently excruciating to read.
I could not get past 30 pages of this drivel. Run away!
The story is good, Frau Becker is an investigator, she is faced with someone cutting heads off of people. She is heavy, has no self confidence about her job, her body, her life. she adopts a cat (that she names cat). There is some sexual tension between her and her partner on the police force, she thinks he likes her, then she thinks he doesn't like her, then she thinks he likes her, then she thinks...well, you get the idea. after all has been said, I did like the story.
If you are looking for a great read that has a little bit of everything, then look no further than Heads Off. Murder, mystery, romance, and even some humor. This book has it all!

This book is very well written and the author has great knowledge about Berlin. The pictures dispersed throughout the book are very helpful as well, especially to those who have never been to Berlin. It helps paint the picture of what is happening in the book. The down side some of the words and names are a bit hard to pronounce. But, the story line more than makes up for it and the characters are great. The only other thing I didn't like was there were no spaces between the paragraphs. I'm not sure if it just showed up that way on my device or if it was everywhere. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book.
